Jan Solicitors Legal Fee Guide Transparency statement

Under the Solicitors Regulation Authority's Transparency Rules, all law firms must provide transparent information regarding the services provided together with the associated costs. Jan Solicitors details of fees and services are set out below as they relate to individuals and corporate clients.

Type of service and costs:

Please see below the areas of practice or services we provide together with our professional fee range. Jan Solicitors will agree with you the service(s) to be provided at your initial consultation meeting or at the outset of instruction and any estimated fees for assistance will be advised to you and paid before work commences. If you require a service not listed on our website, please contact us and we will be happy to assess and provide a quote or sign post you.

Your initial appointment with us will be a consultation appointment for us to know the facts of your case and advise on the merits of your case, and costs as well as timelines. We charge a consultation fee of £100 + VAT (£120) for the consultation appointment. The rest of our fees for the different services we provide are agreed and offered as fixed fees for the stage of your case we agree to work on. Our fees for Family Law Services are as set out below:

In Family Matters we offer retainership on Hourly fee basis. Our hourly rates are as below:


Family Fixed Fees Excluding Barristers Fees:

Divorce Uncontested

Divorce, Dissolution of Civil Partnership or Annulment


Our Fees:    £850 + VAT - £1200 + VAT

Preparation for mediation for financial settlement, mediation referral and follow up advice

Our Fees:    £500 + VAT - £1000 + VAT

Consent Order – Agreed Financial Division -Agreement Negotiations, basic Disclosure with analysis and advice & Drafting a Consent Order with terms agreed – up to 3 amendments

Our Fees:     £1500 + VAT

Further amendments and negotiations



Our Fees:   £1500 + VAT - £2000 + VAT

Financial Ancillary Relief proceedings

All work from issuing financial proceedings for financial settlement until first appointment hearing depending on the number of assets and investigation required for nondisclosure of assets

Our Fees:  £2500 + VAT - £5000 + VAT

All work after first appointment hearing until first dispute resolution (FDR) hearing

Our Fees: £4500 + VAT - £10000 + VAT

All work after first dispute resolution (FDR) hearing until final hearing

Our Fees: £6000 + VAT - £15000 + VAT

Pre-Nuptial/Post-Nuptial Agreement


Our Fees: £750 + VAT - £3000 + VAT

Application for Child Arrangements Order
- Our Fees:         £300 + VAT

Preparation of Children Act applications including C100 (and if required C1, C2 and C8)
- Our Fees: £2000 + VAT - £2500 + VAT 

Court proceedings up to and including the First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointment
- Our Fees: £2000 + VAT - £5000 + VAT

The fixed fee is not appropriate if your case involves particularly complex issues, nor does it cover work that is required beyond the initial hearing. As there are so many ways that a case can be dealt with we will need to provide you with a detailed estimate of costs in these circumstances

Children Act Applications to Court – DRA to Final Hearing

Our Fees:£2000 + VAT - £5000 + VAT


Non-Molestation/Occupation Order

Applicant - this includes the preparation and representation at the Court Hearing.
- Our Fees: £1500 + VAT

Further Hearings A Barrister may be required depending on the complexity of the matter. Barrister fees are paid separately to Jan Solicitors Fees.
- Our Fees:  £750 + VAT

Respondent - this includes the preparation and representation at the Court Hearing.
- Our Fees: £1000 + VAT

All work necessary for contested hearing, including additional Witness Statements and Schedule of Allegations
- Our Fees:  £1500 + VAT

Care Proceedings
- Our Fees: From £2000 + VAT

• The fees for counsel will vary depending on the level of input required generally and the amount of preparation required for any hearing. On average, the hourly rates would be £210 (inclusive of VAT) for junior counsel and £480 (inclusive of VAT) for senior counsel.
• We would agree any fee with you in advance if counsel was required.
